Introduction

Hey there! So there's this really sweet guy named Kutty who has a huge crush on Geeta. Unfortunately, Geeta doesn't feel the same way about him. Even when Kutty finds out that Geeta is head over heels for her college buddy Arjun, he still can't help but love her. Poor guy! Hey there! Have you heard of the 2010 Indian Tamil-language romantic action-drama film called Kutty? 

It's directed by Mithran Jawahar and stars Dhanush, Shriya Saran, and Dhyan (in his Tamil debut) with Radha Ravi playing a pivotal role. The film is actually a remake of the Telugu film Arya (2004) and was produced by Gemini Film Circuit, with music composition by Devi Sri Prasad. It took a year to produce, but was finally released on 14 January 2010, coinciding with the Tamil festival of Thai Pongal. The film received mixed to positive reviews, but still managed to become a decent hit at the box office and completed its 50 days of theatrical run. Have you seen it yet?

Plot

Kutty, a gentle and compassionate young man, found his heart captivated by the enchanting Geeta. Their paths crossed, and he couldn't help but be drawn to her irresistible charm. He admired her from afar, cherishing every moment they spent together, even if it was just in his thoughts. However, as the sands of time flowed, Kutty discovered that his love for Geeta was unrequited. 

Geeta's heart belonged to another, Arjun, her college-mate who had captured her affections. Despite this revelation, Kutty's love remained steadfast, like a flickering candle in the midst of darkness. He couldn't bear to see Geeta unhappy and wished for her to find joy, even if it meant loving someone else. Kutty's selfless love endured, a testament to the depth of his feelings and his unwavering devotion to Geeta.

Release Date

Hey there! So, the movie got mixed reviews when it came out. One reviewer from Rediff gave it a 2.5 out of 5, but still said it was a fun ride with some predictable parts. However, they also said that the plot twists kept them glued to the screen. Sify called it a "clean entertainer" that's great for families to watch together, but they did mention that it could have used some more comedy and editing in the second half. 

The Times of India also called it a "clean entertainer" and praised the director, but they did say that the narration felt like a lecture and the ending was a bit too familiar. Behindwoods gave it a 2 out of 5, but still said it was different from other movies and had some feel-good moments. Finally, a critic from The New Indian Express said that Dhanush did a great job and added some humor to the movie, but they thought a new face could have brought some freshness to the role of Gita.
